Huda Kattan: “I’m raising my daughter to be kind-hearted”

She’s a mum, make-up artist and founder of cosmetics juggernaut Huda Beauty – so, as you can imagine, Huda Kattan is a pretty busy lady.

Grazia schedules a slot with the star ahead of the launch of her brand-new reality show, Huda Boss (who-da boss – what a name!) to talk about everything from the show's purpose to how she wants to raise her 7-year-old daughter, Nour.

The 10-episode series will air weekly on Facebook Watch from 12 June and follow Huda as she reveals what it takes to run a highly successful, family-owned beauty empire.

But with the business obviously taking up nearly all of her time, why did Huda want to add filming a TV show to her impossibly busy schedule?

My sisters and I really wanted to inspire people to believe in themselves and know that they can make their dreams a reality too,” Huda explains.

“The show is about giving people an inside look at what it takes to run a business – the good stuff, the stressful stuff – and inspiring them to chase their dreams. We have a pretty crazy family dynamic so running the business is super-challenging and chaotic sometimes.”

With cravings for reality TV showing no signs of slowing down, what’s Huda’s guilty pleasure to binge-watch? “I am obsessed with Love & Hip Hop” she laughs. “I love Cardi B – she is one of the funniest people ever!”

Although the series will spotlight the beauty powerhouse’s life now, we want to know where Huda sees herself in five years’ time. “Professionally, world domination has always been the goal,” Huda grins. “We are expanding our range but, ultimately, we are on a mission to change perceptions of beauty and make a difference to the face of the industry."

She adds, "I definitely see the beauty world changing a lot in the next few years, and I think Huda Beauty will be at the forefront of that shift. The company is going through a period of huge growth which is super-exciting, so growing our team will be a big focus for the foreseeable future.”

Finally, what about on a personal level? “For me, it’s about being a good mum – my daughter will be 12 in five years so it is about raising her to be a good, kind-hearted person,” Huda says.

Daring and still down-to-earth - we have a serious crush on Huda Kattan and we're not afraid to admit it.
