Grazia launches a battle of the spring trends at Yas Mall Abu Dhabi

Last week, Grazia headed to Yas Mall Abu Dhabi to host YMxSS18 – a three-day spring fashion event buckling with catwalk shows, makeovers, interactive fashion workshops and even a styling contest hosted by our very own Editor in Chief Alison Tay.

Tamara Jamal and Renee Farah dressed their models in two of the top SS18 trends - checks and pastels

Highlights included runway presentations from our favourites such as Tryano, House of Fraser, Maje, M&S, BCBG, Sandro, Topshop, and Reiss, not only showcasing the best of SS18 but also indicating where to shop the key pieces.

Going head-to-head in a styling challenge on day one was Grazia Fashion & Beauty Editor Charlotte Blair, along with Cosmopolitan’s Chloe Bosher, and influencers Tamara Jamal and Renee Farah. Each was assigned one of this season’s four biggest trends – from a choice of pastels, checks, florals and rainbow brights – and given 45 minutes in Debenhams to come up with their take on the trends.

Charlotte’s clashing striped rainbow print won the crowd over. Sharing her top styling tips, Charlotte reveals, “Make sure you use two different stripe types, one horizontal and the other vertical with a bright-coloured belt worn at the waist to break up the two. And don’t be afraid of colour – more is most definitely more this season.”
