A treasure hunt for books has started in Abu Dhabi

Booklovers and hide-and-seek aficionados take note.

Abu Dhabi’s Umm Al Emarat Park is hosting a month-long treasure hunt dedicated to books.

From the 20th of October, every evening between 6pm and 9pm the young (and the young at heart) will be able to partake in a novel game of hide-and-seek. Using their map-reading skills, LED neon lights, a slew of clues, and some serious detective work, visitors will be able to ‘hunt’ for more than 1,000 literary works that lay hidden around the park.

Not just an adventure, booklovers will be able to claim the treasures as their own and take them home.

And as if a good book isn’t reward enough, some of the titles will have extra prizes hidden between their pages, from vouchers for restaurants at the park to free entry tickets to the Louvre Abu Dhabi – who doesn’t love a treasure hunt within a treasure hunt?

Created in a bid to encourage reading, Rasha Kablawi, head of Umm Al Emarat Park’s Corporate Affairs and Communication Department says, “This event will be great fun for all book lovers. With books for children, teens and adults, we hope to encourage people of all ages to read more. I would like to thank all of our partners that helped make this initiative and our Park’s ethos, ‘education through recreation’, come to life.”
