Celebrities are getting in on the Art Basel banana act, and we're here for it

This week we all went bananas for well, a banana taped to a wall at Art Basel in Miami.

The original artwork named Comedian, was created by eccentric Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan, and is literally a banana stuck to the wall with duct tape.

One woman purchased it for Dhs440,000 the moment it went up for sale, however, the piece has been mocked mercilessly online since, and now celebrities are getting in on the joke.

Taking to Instagram, actress Brooke Shields shared a selfie of her with a banana taped to her forehead. She captioned the shot, “An expensive selfie”, before adding that she too was at the art event in Miami.

American TV hosts Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest also poked fun, but instead of using a banana, the pair taped a bagel to a frame, and decided to auction it for charity.

They explained: “The bids for ‘Art Bagel’ are pouring in! The proceeds go to @ryanfoundation! Comment below with real bids and we’ll DM the highest bidder!”

And finally, Oprah’s bestie Gayle King shared that the crew on CBS This Morning were doing the show with a banana taped above their heads.

If you can’t beat them…
