Saudi welcomes its first writing retreat

While booking a reflective spa holiday counts as a retreat for too many of us, this new experience is bound to switch things up a little.

A first of its kind in the Kingdom, a new writing retreat will allow ten Saudi and Arab writers to share their literary experiences and hold discussion workshops at different locations within the Kingdom.

The first session was introduced on the topic of short story writing on Wednesday in Unayzah. Each following session will deal with various other genres of writing.

Set up by the Ministry of Culture, the seven-day retreat has been designed to support creative writing and allow authors to network and share their experiences.

The Ministry of Culture aims to encourage regional talents and support Saudi creative literature in order to drive forward the nation’s literary output.
