Al Quoz's beloved home-grown cinema concept, Cinema Akil is celebrating Arab film in conjunction with the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture with a week-long festival of film.
From Friday (September 27) until October 5, contemporary feature narratives, documentaries, and shorts ranging from 7 countries across the arab world will be screened at the independent cinema.
The films include: A Kasha, a romantic drama directed by Sudanese filmmaker Hajooj Kuka, What Comes Around, an Egyptian documentary highlighting the strength in community support in one of Cairo’s poorest neighbourhoods. Cinema Akil will also be screening Soudade Kaadan’s powerful Syrian drama The Day I Lost My Shadow.
All screenings taking place at Cinema Akil will be ticketed.
Tickets will be available for Dhs52 at Cinema Akil’s box office and cinemaakil.com.
