If you’re a Disney fanatic, you may want to sit down. Disney is bringing us a sequel to the live-action Aladdin and we’re kind of confused. We got the happy ending we wanted (even if Jafar didn’t) and we don’t think there’s a need for a sequel, but we’ll have plenty of time to come around considering it’s still in the very early stages of production.

Disney has presumably been keeping all of their animators locked away as it’s produced live-action versions of Dumbo, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella and The Lion King, with Mulan coming up soon and we understand why they’re doing it – Aladdin alone made over a billion dollars.

No word yet whether the original cast will be jumping back on the magic carpet, or whether it’ll be directed by Guy Richie. One thing is for sure though: We’d very much like to not be subjected to remakes of the Aladdin sequels we watched as a child. Here’s hoping they’ll make this one from scratch.
