Whoever books the talent for the Dubai Jazz Festival needs a raise because they’re bringing actual music legends to our hometown for its 18th edition. Yesterday we shared the news that Lauryn Hill would be kicking off the festival on February 26, and it’s just been announced that Lionel Richie will be taking the stage the very next day alongside American jazz band Spyro Gyra.
The record producer, singer, songwriter and American Idol judge may have shot to fame in the ‘80s as part of The Commodores, but his soulful RnB songs are still being played on the radio today (and we sing along every time). Lionel gave us an endless amount of hits including Easy, All Night Long, Endless Love and Hello, as well as co-producing We Are The World with Michael Jackson.
We can’t wait to hear our favourite classics in person while enjoying the winter weather and an electric ambiance. The last headline act will be announced tomorrow November 6 so stay tuned – it’s shaping up to be the best jazz festival yet.
