“Christmas doesn’t feel like Christmas without any presents” sighs Meg March. But this Christmas we will be getting the best present thanks to the release of the new film adaptation of Little Women.
The first trailer of Greta Gerwig’s new adaptation of the classic heart shattering Louisa May Alcott novel, Little Women has been released and it has everything from prairie dresses, Meryl Streep, tragedy and feminism.
The film is the eighth cinema adaptation of the tale set in 1860s New England in the aftermath of the American Civil War and revolves around the lives of the four March sisters: the eldest, a hopeless romantic Meg, played by Emma Watson, the sensitive and caring Beth played by Eliza Scanlen, the youngest pest Amy who grows up to be an outspoken young girl played by Florence Pugh and the ambitious and headstrong narrator Jo who is played by Saoirse Ronan.This coming of age story shows how the sisters experience life's highs and lows; love and loss, birth and death, and success and faliure.
The uber-talented star studded trailer also includes Meryl Streep, Timothee Chamelet and Laura Dern in full 19th century regal glory.
The movie is set to release on Christmas Day, 25 December 2019.
