The Cairo International Film Festival is celebrating the best of Arab cinema

As the region’s oldest and largest annual film festical, the Cairo International Film Festival is renowned for bringing Arab cinema to a wider global audience.

And this year – its 41st - is no different, with the line-up boasting 10 days of cinematic events including 90 MENA premiers from 20 to 29 November.

A jury of top international talent, including Oscar-winning American screenwriter and director Stephen Gaghan, Italian screenwriter and director Daniele Luchetti, Moroccan producer Lamia Chraibi, and Chinese actress Qin Hailu, will pick the winners for the coveted Golden and Silver Pyramid awards for best film and best director respectively.

Monty Python actor Terry Gilliam, Egyptian director Sherif Arafa, and Egyptian actor Menna Shalaby will all be honoured for their contributions to the industry.

Plus, during the festival, funds will be awarded to aspiring Arab filmmakers to help complete projects.
