We’ve been mourning the loss of Friends on Netflix, so the news of a reunion couldn’t have come at a better time. Unfortunately, though, it’s not exactly the reunion we’ve been begging for since the show ended in 2004.
The reunion will be an unscripted special where the cast discuss the show in a Q and A format, rather than it being a proper ‘where are they now’-style episode.
This will be disappointing news for the fans that wonder whether Joey ever got married or if Ross and Rachel are on another break, but die-hard fans will just be glad to see the cast back together talking about our favourite topic and sharing behind-the-scenes secrets.
The entire friends cast signed on to do a reunion so I guess 2020 isn’t that bad after all.— Sarah Jenkins (@sarahjenkinsxo) February 21, 2020
The cast – Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry and Courteney Cox – broke the news on Instagram with identical pictures and captions; a simple ‘It’s happening’. Understandably, the news sent everyone into a frenzy and Friends fans around the world are counting down the days until it airs.
The special will air on HBO Max (a.k.a the streaming platform that stole Friends from us) to mark its launch in May. Could there BE a better way to celebrate?
