The truth about the drone video Dubai's losing its mind over
Dubai as the world has never seen it before

A multi award-winning drone pilot has captured Dubai as the world has never seen it before. In his haunting video entitled The Lockdown, Bachir Moukarzel shows endless stretches of the Sheikh Zayed Road, Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab, Dubai Frame, and many of the landmarks we all know at love entirely deserted due to Dubai's measures to flatten the curve in the ongoing fight against COVID-19.

The Lebanese-born, Dubai-based certified commercial drone operator tells Grazia, "Dubai is one of the most busiest cities on earth, and I found the lockdown a perfect opportunity to film the streets at night."

So how did he do it? He pitched the project to Dubai Media Office and it took a week for Bachir and his gimbal operator Haytham Achkar to film the mesmerising footage between the hours of 11pm until 6am with the cooperation of Dubai Police.

The enthralling two-minute video is soundtracked by a melancholy piano melody accompanied by tremolo cello which perfectly illustrates the UAE hub on hiatus during the current period with the hope of a brighter tomorrow.  Bachir adds, "The intention is the show that everyone is working together by following the government instructions, and this will lead us to control the virus situation and reduce the cases hopefully."
