The renowned Tomorrowland festival traditionally takes place in Belgium on an impressive multiplex of stages, usually with a star-studded line-up and accompanied by spectacular visual effects. Once again COVID-19 has cancelled plans. Or so we thought...
Luckily for Dubai revellers, Tomorrowland: Around the World is teaming up with organisations globally to put on exclusive streaming events in over 150 countries, including the UAE! As part of Dubai Summer Surprises, Dubai Festival City is hosting the digital event, famed for its hypnotic electronic dance music, from 7pm to 2am, across 25 and 26 July.
Co-Founder, Michel Beers, reveals, "We hope that hundreds of thousands of people will unite in a responsible way and that small Tomorrowland gatherings at people’s homes – from Canada to Australia, from Japan to Brazil and everywhere in between – will be organised. Especially during the weekend where normally Tomorrowland Belgium would take place, we really have the power to unite the world."
Supported by 3-D technology, wild special effects and exclusive video production, stars including Steve Aoki, Martin Garrix and David Guetta will take eight different stages for a two-day music extravaganza. Top industry professionals, such as basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal and Black-Eyed-Peas Frontman Will.I.Am will share their inspirational journeys in special workshop sessions. Need extra convincing? Guest star Katy Perry will be taking the stage for an unprecedented show introducing songs from her upcoming album. OK, we’re persuaded.
Tomorrowland has been releasing teasers of its visual creations. Combining modern gaming effects and hardware, 3D design, and Hollywood’s latest filming techniques, the festival has recorded over 60 individual performances ready for viewing. It has finally bridged the gap between the real world and the virtual environment to a level beyond everyone’s expectations.
Inspired by the theme of global unity, the event is poignantly unfazed by borders or boundaries and is open to people of all ages and places. If unable to leave the house, festivalgoers, aka the People of Tomorrow, can navigate easily through the digital island on their PC, laptop, smartphone or tablet and interactively explore the entire site with friends and family.
Otherwise, grab your tickets and head down to Al Badia Boulevard in Festival City with your festi-friends - at least four to be exact. Visitors must come in groups of four, six, eight or 10, and will be allocated a specific table so that everyone remains safely socially distant. Get ready for an unparalleled digital experience of visual entertainment and technological masterpiece. Team Grazia will see you there!
