As the novel coronavirus continues to be a health menace, a new kind of cancel culture has taken hold in the entertainment industry, and claimed Dubai’s biggest streetwear festival as its latest victim.
That's right. Sole DXB 2020 has been cancelled, thanks to COVID-19 concerns.
The announcement came via Sole DXB’s official Instagram account and read, "We are disappointed to be in this position, but we aren’t confident that we can deliver the experience you deserve with the health and safety standards we expect.”
The ninth edition of the festival, which celebrates the best of street art, music, and fashion, was due to take place in December. Unfortunately, no new date has been announced for the event.
But it's not all doom and gloom - thanks to the wonderfulness that is technology, you can still get a bit of your Sole DXB fix from its online platform sole.digital, which was launched in light of the pandemic.
Now, if you need us, we'll be hibernating until 2021.
