The new "streetwear-influenced" Barbie collection has tons of attitude

Barbie has come a long way since her inception in 1959, and the latest collection is proof of that, and then some.

Featuring four Barbies and two Kens, the BMR1959 collection, designed by Carlyle Nuera, looks more like a street style photo shoot at an international fashion week than a collection of toys, which is part of the reason why Barbie continues to be a favourite with kids and adults.

“Celebrating the fashion heritage of #Barbie, these premium fully posable dolls capture the nostalgia of the 90s with a bold, modern aesthetic,” the brand revealed on Instagram alongside a video and images of the toys.

And while the four female figures are pretty fierce and mega fashionable in their ensembles inspired by real life streetwear brands, the two Ken dolls are equally extra with one featuring an acid green buzz cut, while the other has a two-tone man bun.

The limited edition pieces are being sold separately, but could you really bear to break up the gang?
