The UAE government declares Sunday 23 August a public holiday for Islamic New Year

We see you scrambling to book that hotel room, to track down that perfect beach cover-up. No judgement here; staycation season continues!

On Thursday, the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources announced all public sector employees would enjoy a long weekend to mark Al Hijri, the Islamic New Year, with work resuming as normal on Monday 24 August.

As of yet, no announcement for the private sector has been made but, after the UAE government unified public holidays for both sectors last year, it is expected soon.
