If you’re a pet lover like us then you know it can be difficult being away from your furry friend, even when you’re having fun on holiday (we often find ourselves bothering passers-by with dogs to ask if we can pet them – the dog, not the owner). Well, Airbnb is helping you get rid of those animal-related withdrawals through the addition of Animal Experiences.
In the past you’ve been able to not only book properties through Airbnb, but experiences too – think chef’s tables and city tours. But Animal Experiences is here to make your holiday so much better. Can you tell we’re excited?
There are over 1,000 animal experiences on offer across 1,000 cities, including paddleboarding with corgis, skateboarding with a world record-holding bulldog or rescuing puppies lost in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone (excuse us as we sob about the thought of lost puppies). If you’re into more low-key activities, you can just kick back and cuddle a cow or your friendly neighbourhood alpaca.
Airbnb aims to give tourists a better understanding of animals and set a new standard for animal tourism while allowing visitors to have fun and connect with our natural world beyond taking selfies or watching animals perform from afar.
Over 100 of the experiences donate all the proceeds to non-profit organisations that support causes like animal rescue, conservation and veterinary care. And don’t worry – the animals are completely protected by World Animal Protection and animal welfare policies, so you’ll never find an unhappy pooch or malnourished elephant that’s been taken out of his own environment.
