An unofficial motto at Cheval Blanc Rhandeli is that nothing is too much trouble, so even when I asked if perchance they could find me a pink flamingo to float around my pool in, a fully inflated one arrived on my doorstep mere minutes later. Sat in the impossibly beautiful, very, very blue idylls of the Noonu Atoll, this is quite possibly The Greatest Place On Earth. If you like perfection, that is.
Stay: This might be the bolthole luxury destination for royals, oligarchs and celebrities, but Rhandeli’s overarching feel is that of chilled-out barefoot chic. Villa options are either one or two-bedroom but all boast a 12.5 metre infinity pool, overwater deck and a dining pavilion sunk into the floor. Unsurprising then that many guests rarely emerge from their villas, some of which are perched directly over the crystalline sea while others sit within a hidden tropical garden or their own private beach.
Eat: Given that you can essentially get anything your heart desires delivered to your front door for you to enjoy, feet-in-the-sand, in your lush jungle garden, staying in is quite appealing. Alternatively, “Island time,” is something that is referred to a lot – there’s no rush to make dinner at 8pm sharp, breakfast is served at The White Bar until the very reasonable 11am… moving slowly is encouraged.
Explore: From floating around the Indian Ocean on a bigboys’ toy – think everything from underwater jet-skis to Flyboards and Hoverboards – to cycling from island to island and bursting out from the verdant green jungle pathways on your personal bicycle, to a private movie screening under the night’s sky, Randheli really is the stuff of dreams. That’s before mentioning Spa Island where French beauty house Guerlain has set up shop with a plethora of lush treatments and a yogi master to lead sunrise and sunset yoga classes.
