The city of superlatives has begun its mission to give Hatta the glamping makeover of the century, complete with an iconic Hollywood-style sign. Just imagine all the pictures.
As part of a 10-year initiative to boost ecotourism in Hatta, Dubai property developer Meraas has unveiled monumental plans to liven up the exclave.
The first phase of development involves a 20-room mountain lodge; a tranquil retreat tucked away by the Hajar Mountains, with what we can only imagine to be some seriously stunning scenery, perfect for those of us that appreciate nature... but from a distance.
And it doesn’t stop there. There are also plans for a “campers’ hotel” on the banks of Hatta dam, taking the form of a charming first-of-its-kind trailer hotel concept, and an adventure centre to connect visitors and residents.
Putting the eco in ecotourism, Meraas endeavours to use state-of-the-art sustainable materials, and to preserve the natural state of Hatta.
“Hatta is known for its beautiful scenery – mountains, lakes, wadis, farms, dams and fresh air," observes Abdulla Al Habbai, Group Chairman at Meraas, “Supporting and enhancing the integration of leisure, hospitality, and tourism is key to transforming this highly popular destination into a world-class area that offers families a diverse leisure experience.” We're so ready.
