Modern hotel box rooms lacking everything from originality to personality are so last year. Now, we get hot under the collar by accommodation which supports the environment we live in via a super-sophisticated approach.
Fine-tuning our wishes are a range of three boutique eco-hotels that merge luxury with eco-tourism.
Recently opened under Sharjah Collection By Mantis, the hotels are (you guessed it) in Sharjah - the emirate offering a world undiscovered by many. From the deep desert to beautiful coastline near the borders of Oman, adventure is at your fingertips.
The first to open is Kingfisher Lodge, located in the heart of Kalba. Activity-wise you can kayak through the mangroves, look out for sea turtles or catch a glimpse of various rare species of birds including the White-Collard Kingfisher and the Sykes’ Warbler (yep, we need to top up our bird knowledge too).
After exploring you can unwind in one of the 25 luxurious tents that offer complete privacy. And by the way, we’re not talking about the questionable style of tent that should have been thrown away after its first (and last, let's be honest) Glastonbury. These tents boast open views of the sea and feature their own private pool and wellness spa. Wow.
The two other lodges - Al Badayer Oasis Lodge and Fossil Rock – are also set to open later this year and equally impress with their commitment to promoting nature.
Take us to check in.
