HOT, NEW AND INSTA-FRIENDLY: EATING OUT IN DUBAI
Pitmaster Orelle Young tells us if we can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen

THE BLACKSMITH SMOKE HOUSE - Meat sweats your thing? We feel you. Leave your vegan friends at home eating houmous and head to the Marina’s new smokehouse where pitmaster Orelle Young will serve you up 18-hour oak-smoked ribs straight out of a carnivore’s fever dream. Their tag line? ‘Put some south in your mouth.’ Sounds naughty. We’re into it.

Soho Garden brings bar-hopping to DXB

SOHO GARDEN - Not one to do things by halves, Dubai’s latest entertainment-scene addition is nothing short of a behemoth in both size and intention. Soho Garden, a 14,000m2 complex comprising untold bars, pools and even megaclub Drais (yes, of Vegas fame), has been designed to “create a buzzing urban scene inspired by the international cultural melting pots of London and NYC.” Exciting times.

BARBARY - From the clever folk who brought us JBR’s Maine, saucy new haute spot Barbary is the latest place Dubai’s cool kids have found to call home. After hours, anyway. Insta-ready neon art, NYC deli-inspired dishes and jauntily named club nights – Friday’s Disco Pink is our fave – make this the full, fabulous package. The Grazia girls will see you there!

Who isn’t a sucker for an urban oasis?

NINIVE - Modestly self-styled as “one of the best Middle-Eastern restaurants” in town, Ninive’s exotic urban majlis, hanging gardens, ’70s-inspired soundtrack  – remixed by the brilliantly named German DJ, Habibi Funk), and neo-traditional culinary offering all add up to making us think they’re right. It is one of the best – soon to be one of our faves.

Find the secluded hideaway in Masti and reward yourself with a mocktail

MASTI - Just opened on the shores of La Mer, the new beachy shopping complex in Jumeirah, Masti – which translates to ‘mischief’ – offers a reinterpretation of Indian culinary favourites. Think Bhatti Merguez, a lamb dish combining a heady combo of African and Indian flavours, and Black Bass Ceviche, which throws some Peruvian vibes into the mix.

BB: food with a guaranteed side of Insta-likes

BB - “BB creates a community of friends, rebels, and pioneers by walking its own path through the Middle East’s dining landscape.” So says new social-eating spot BB about itself, and, frankly, we like the cut of its jib. Not only is it #interiorgoals for days, but there’s also cauliflower popcorn, duck bao and waffles with a salted-caramel syringe on the menu.
