Ladies' nights in Dubai are nothing new. But a ladies' night hosting veiled women who wish to enjoy an evening of socialising – well, that’s a different ball game all together.
Meet Sabrina Salhi, Founder & Events Director of UNVEILED DXB. The Muslim mum-of-two from the UK is championing female empowerment by giving her fellow ladies in Dubai a place to dance, eat and enjoy themselves in line with their beliefs. Basically, to unveil with ease.
"It all started when I began to dress modestly in coherence with my faith, but still wanted to dance and have a good time,"Sabrina tells Grazia. "I felt that many evening entertainment options conflicted with my personal lifestyle choices and beliefs.”
She adds, "Having said that, this concept is also appealing to women from a range of backgrounds who like the idea of having fun with their girlfriends without the annoyance of unwanted attention. I wanted to rewrite the rules and offer good music and entertainment to women in an exclusive setting that was chic, fun, and safe.”
The debut evening will be held post-Ramadan, on 25 June at Asia De Cuba in The Westin Hotel, Dubai Marina, and there will be a complimentary cloak room service where guests can store abayas as needed.
Tickets are Dhs185 and are inclusive of mocktails and Latino-style appetizers.
