Iftars worth knowing: Iftar Under The Stars at Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa

A sandy desert path lit  by burning flames winds its way to a twinkling oasis in the distance as the sun slowly sets. You'd be forgiven for thinking you were making your way to Burning Man, or a mystical corner of the Healing Fields at Glastonbury Festival, but welcome to Iftar under the Stars at Al Hadheerah at Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa.

As the constellations glow above the lively, flag-strewn setting, cooking stations sizzle with traditional Ramadan fare being prepared before your very eyes, all to the soundtrack of traditional oud and kanun musicians. Stick around after breaking your fast for  live cultural entertainment including Tanoura dancing, and breathtaking horse and camel shows.

Celebrate Iftar Under The Stars at Al Hadheerah at Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa from sunset until 11pm from Dhs265 from Sunday to Wednesday, and Dhs295 from Thursday to Saturday, including soft drinks, Ramadan juices and Arabic coffee. Children aged four to 12 dine with 50 per cent discount, and little darlings under four eat for free.
