Inspired by the technicolour streets of Akihabara, Tokyo, Akiba Dori is a bright, neon-lit new food concept in none other than Dubai Design District... and it’s quickly adding a fun new dimension to the definition of cosmopolitan in Dubai. Also: think of the pictures.
Taking the form of a part-restaurant, part-bar, foodhall-style indoor alleyway, Akiba Dori brings us seven different experiences to satisfy our foodie demands. Expect Japanese street food, coffee, Wagyu sandwiches, Katsu curry and even an arcade room. Well, it is Samer Hamadeh, founder of Dubai’s Stereo Arcade behind it, after all.
As if that wasn’t quite enough, there’s a bar serving Japanese drinks and a Tokyo-style Pizzeria called Tokyopolitan, dishing up Japanese-Italian fusion pizza baked in under 60 seconds. And with options like Mozzarella & Nutella Taiyaki from Kashi Pan Baked Goods, or 5 Formaggi from Tokyopolitan, it has an answer for any meal craving.
With doors open until 3am, we know exactly where we’re going for our midnight feast. This could be by far the quickest (and we’re happy to say, the cheapest) round-trip to Japan ever.
