Have you ever thought of taking a trip to Antarctica? We don’t imagine most have, however if you’ve got a coat to hand and a few days to spare, this expedition may just change your life. In partnership with Ocean Conservancy, Airbnb is sending five adventure-seeking individuals on the Antarctic Sabbatical – a four-week long expedition alongside scientist Kirstie Jones-Williams.
On the trip, you’ll see the impact of microplastics on our climate by studying how they’ve made their way to the interior of Antarctica, with the ultimate goal of the trip being to bring awareness to the damage we’re doing to our planet, and to demonstrate that the devastation even extends to one of the world’s most isolated ecosystems.
Participants will spend two weeks in Chile training for the expedition before spending the following week in Antarctica. You’ll also be able to visit the South Pole and breath-taking natural sites before returning to Chile to compile your findings.
If you’re over the age of 18 and live in an eligable country - Dubai being one of them - then nothing's stopping you from signing up for this trip of a lifetime. Airbnb is open for applications from 24 September until 8 October, and all you have to do is fill out the online application and submit a 500-word essay on why you want to be part of this opportunity. Oh, and as an added bonus, all of your expenses are covered so the trip is completely free.
