Apple’s inclusive new emoji release is finally getting it right

If you’re like us then you probably hit ‘remind me later’ whenever your iPhone prompts you to update, even if it’s so old that this happens multiple times a day. Well the folks at Apple are finally giving us a reason to take the plunge because they’ve just rolled out 398 new emojis that are now available for download.

In an effort to become more inclusive, there are now a wider range of skin tones available as well as interracial couples and accessibility-focussed additions representing the hearing-impaired and those in wheelchairs.

The update also brings more food options – including falafel, waffles and butter – as well as a yawning face, blood drops and eight new animals. Basically, your mum will now be replying to your texts even slower than usual.
