The region’s largest fitness community, Fitness in DXB, has launched its pursuit to find out who really is the fittest - could it be you? Whether you’re a fitness fanatic or a couch potato, everyone is welcome to take part in the Dubai Fitness Challenge.
From the 26th October until the 24th November, the action-packed festival will be taking place with events running throughout. The aim of the game? To encourage people to exercise for 30 minutes a day for 30 days, which, when you break it down, seems simple enough. And to be honest, this fitness challenge is exactly the boost we need to get moving.
The first competition on the calendar is the Fittest Human – Battle of the Nations which is taking place tomorrow, Friday 26 October to kick things off properly. Taking place at The World’s Ultimate Strongman event in Bab Al Shams Arena, it’s a chance to represent your country in a team battle to find the fittest people in the UAE.
The concept of the challenge was developed by a team of fitness professionals to test the abilities of ordinary men and women, as well as professional runners, footballers, and athletes. The founder of Fitness in DXB, Jonny Young, said “I wanted to design a test even my mum could do, but she’d just have a significantly lower score than the world’s best athletes – or who knows, maybe not!”
Everyone is invited to take part in the initial qualification test, taking only two minutes and consisting of rowing power, squatting and agility jumps, with your score then being added to the leaderboard. You can improve your score at any time, and if you score in the top two males or females from your country, you could be taking home some prizes.
