If you’re on a never-ending quest to feeling healthier (when realistically you’ve slept about four hours in the last week and consumed three times your weight in coffee), you’ll be somewhat pleased to hear about this major breakthrough.
Broccoli coffee is the health trend that’s about to lessen your guilt over your excessive caffeine consumption, minus the annoyance of actually developing a healthier lifestyle.
Thankfully not a steaming mug of caffeinated green veggie juice, the broccoli coffee is made up of ground broccoli powder scooped into your latte. While it’s not exactly a replacement for green smoothies, it does have some pretty prodigious benefits; two tablespoons of the powder packs approximately the equivalent to one serving of vegetables, while also being high in protein and fibre, as well as “bioactive phytochemicals” which are apparently “health-promoting”.
The concoction was developed by the Australian Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in a bid to create products from vegetables considered “too ugly” for sale.
Just on a side note, we do consider this a missed opportunity to coin the term brocco-latte… or brocco-cino. We’ll stop now.
