In line with the Government of Dubai’s ease of movement restrictions amid the pandemic, the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services has announced the launch of its Mobile Laboratory Units (MLU), an advanced effort to test senior citizens and residents, as well as people of determination in the comfort of their own homes.
While the UAE is prepared for a potential surge in COVID-19 cases with the launch of its several fever clinics, drive-through testing centres and field hospitals, the MLU initiative plays an important role in reducing the pressure faced by hospitals dealing with coronavirus patients. The virus has now infected 2.9 million people and has caused over 200,000 deaths worldwide. 9,813 cases has now been recorded in the UAE.
Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management and the Government of Dubai had shared guidelines prior to the relaxation of the movement restrictions to prioritise the safety of its citizens and residents during this time. The MLU ensures the safety and health of its paramedics and patients as the vehicles possess a built-in auto-sterilisation unit, thermal scanners and safe storage cabins for samples.
