Ikea goes... vegan?

Our attempts at veganism in this region seem to always go hand-in-hand with a winding list of navigation directions and a not-so-little price tag with one-too-many figures to go along with it. Can you feel the headache coming on already? Yeah, us too.

But what if we told you a certain homeware hero has come to our rescue yet again? Put on your walking shoes and call your mum ASAP as Ikea has announced that it's adding vegan hot dogs and ice cream to its menu.

And it’s not even its first vegan addition. Ikea introduced vegan meatballs way back in 2015 with its vegan menu boasting organic pasta with marinara sauce, veggie balls with tomato-spinach ragout and the like. Why the hot dog has only just made an appearance is due to the difficulty of developing one as close as possible to their well-loved classic hot dog with the added health and environmental benefits of veganism. A challenge, we're sure.

The hot dogs are currently in testing in Sweden and should be available worldwide in 2019.

While you patiently await this momentous breakthrough, you could just peruse the vegan snacks section at Ikea's grocery section. Think vegan cookies, biscuits, and smoothies minus the guilt.
