Personal trainer-turned-viral Instagram sensation, Kelsey Wells shot to fame in 2016 after she urged her followers to “screw the scale” and stop focusing on weight loss as a measure of success.
“You guys, please stop getting hung up on the number on the stupid scale! Please stop thinking your weight equals your progress and for the love of everything please stop letting your weight have any effect whatsoever on your self-esteem,” she captioned a side-by-side comparison composition of her body at different weights.
Since then, the 30-year-old American who boasts over 2.5 million followers on Instagram has devised the PWR Programs, an online workout method that encourages women to lift heavy weights and focus on strength over aesthetics.
And this December, she's bringing her athleticism, positivity and refreshingly alternative approach to fitness to the GCC, as part of Dubai Active.
Held in collaboration with Dubai Sports Council from Thursday, 5th December until Saturday, 7th December at Dubai World Trade Centre, Dubai Active includes fitness classes, meet-and-greet and Q&A sessions along with nutritional talks, and Kelsey will appear alongside Australian trainer Kayla Itsines to treat her online following in the region to a live workout session.
Explaining her method on her site, Kelsey says her aim is to help women “to nourish and power” their bodies, and “strengthen your self-love and self-belief through fitness” to “feel more powerful than ever.”
So if you fancy a side-serving of empowerment along with those post-workout endorphins, mark your diaries.
