As one of the body positive moment’s most vocal advocates, you might think Lizzo has never doubted or questioned her confidence.
But the singer has revealed she once suffered from body dysmorphia, caused by the man she was dating at the time.
Speaking to Rolling Stone magazine, the 31-year-old detailed that when her ex told her he wanted to date someone thin, she tried to change her body to look more like actress Zooey Deschanel.
However, when the relationship ended, she came to her senses and started re-evaluating her body image and how this was linked to her self-worth.
And she also detailed how the bopo movement has inspired her to keep challenging beauty norms.
“I’ve come to terms with body dysmorphia and evolved,” she explained. “The body-positive movement is doing the same thing. We’re growing together, and it’s growing pains."
