Idris Elba has taken to Twitter to share the news that he'd been diagnosed with Coronavirus after being exposed to someone who had tested positive. "This is serious. Now's the time to be really vigilant about washing your hands and keeping your distance," he warned.
After reassuring fans he was doing ok, he continued, "We live in a divided world right now, we can all feel it, but now's the time for solidarity. Now's the time for thinking about each other. There are so many people whose lives have been affected from those who have lost people they love to people who don't even have it who have lost their livelihoods. This is real."
This morning I tested positive for Covid 19. I feel ok, I have no symptoms so far but have been isolated since I found out about my possible exposure to the virus. Stay home people and be pragmatic. I will keep you updated on how I’m doing No panic. pic.twitter.com/Lg7HVMZglZ— Idris Elba (@idriselba) March 16, 2020
In a Twitter Live message the following day, he confirmed that going public with the news has served as a wake-up call for many. "It made it a lot more real for some people. It definitely made it more real for me."
