The novel coronavirus has now infected close to 3 million people across the globe, of which 10,349 cases has been recorded in the UAE.
Owning to the UAE government's extensive efforts to identify coronavirus patients and curb its spread by providing all citizens and residents with fourteen drive-through testing centres, several field hospitals, aggressive sterilisation drives and necessary restrictions on movement, as well as COVID-19 tracking apps for both Android and iOS smartphones, the UAE has now reached its one million mark of coronavirus tests executed countrywide.
“The more tests we conduct, the earlier we detect more cases, and the more effieceoitnly we can contain the virus. The more tests we perform, the more proactive we can handle those proven to be in contact with confirmed cases, as well as those who don’t exhibit any symptoms and yet carry the infection,” said Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Mohammad bin Nasser Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention.
He added, “It is normal that we detect more cases when we accelerate screening. And herein, we would like to reassure the public that this increase in the number of patients is expected and proves that we are on the right path to contain the spread of the virus.”
