Fikra Design Studio has been providing the UAE (and beyond!) with ambitious and forward-thinking graphic design since 2006. Now its founder Salem Al Qassimi has launched Fikra Campus, a freelance co-working space.
Situated near the border of Dubai and Sharjah, Fikra Campus is a communal space that welcomes and connects creatives and entrepreneurs. As you’d expect, the décor is slick and stylish with modern furniture, private work-stations and everything you’d need for a productive day's work including superfast internet, meeting rooms and printers. There’s a daily membership for those who want to pop in now and again, or you can opt for a monthly/annual membership – you can even apply to register your business at Fikra Campus and get a commercial license at a non-free zone area.
In addition to the co-working space, there is also a café for your morning caffeine fix, plus a design studio, library and exhibition space that regularly hosts talks, workshops and programmes.
The design studio has also announced its first ever Fikra Graphic Design Biennial, a month-long event in November exploring graphic design past and present. Asking questions like “What does ‘graphic design’ actually denote today?”, there will be workshops, performances, installations, a conference and exhibitions. Put it in your diaries now!
