Jessica Simpson is the unlikely relationship guru we've all been waiting for

Teen popstar-turned-reality star-turned fashion mogul Jessica Simpson is currently back in the headlines thanks to her tell-all memoir, Open Book.

And while many have been trying to fish out why Jessica’s previous marriage to Nick Lachey ended, the lesson she took from her toxic relationship with musician John Mayer is the self-love standout every woman needs to read ahead of Valentine's Day.

Speaking to Glamour US, Jessica shared that writing her book forced her to examine her past relationships, and what they had taught her about love.

“Yes, it was a relationship that was a yo-yo; it was always back and forth. To feel wanted and then to be shut out, and to feel wanted, to be completely shut out,” she told the publication of her tumultuous relationship.

“I mean, my advice is to pick up on those signs. If there have been three breakups, stop it there. There can’t be 9 to 10, because that’s immature. That’s not love. If you’re actually in love, you’re not going to give up,” she added.

Wise words (and calculations) to live by, we think you’ll agree.
