New York's just made this power move towards sustainability

New York has become the third state in America, after California and Hawaii to ban single-use plastic bags. The aim is not only to reduce the amount of plastic bags that end up in landfills and waterways but also minimise the oil comsumption used to make them - an estimated 12 billion barrels per year in New York alone.

New York governor Andrew Cuomo signed a statewide ban which will come into effect in March 2020, with many in the Middle East keen to see our rulers follow suit.
