The importance of mental health is now becoming a talked-about topic and is no longer viewed as taboo, however effective mental health care is not always accessible, leaving individuals nowhere to turn to when they’re unable to cope. That’s where Every Mind Matters comes in. The government campaign aims to help individuals manage their symptoms and stop them from escalating, and hopes to highlight how mental health should be viewed as being as important as physical health.
Developed by clinical experts and mental health charities, Every Mind Matters is an online platform where users can take a health quiz before being provided with practical tips for managing mood disorders, sleeplessness and stress, as well as a personalised mind plan. The platform enlisted the help of The Dukes and Duchesses of Cambridge and Sussex to spread awareness about the campaign. The royals star in a three-minute video that will be shown across the UK’s leading channels this evening, and shows each taking their turn to speak about the importance of looking after your mental health.
“Everyone knows that feeling when life gets on top of us… we feel stressed, low, anxious or have trouble sleeping” says Prince William, before his brother Prince Harry continues “We think there’s nothing to be done”. Meghan then begins “But that’s so wrong. There are things we can do”, before Kate talks about the platform, saying “It’ll get you started with a free online plan designed to help you deal with stress… and feel more in control”.
The video is directed by world-renowned photographer Rankin and is written by Richard Curtis. It also stars celebrities like Glenn Close, Davina McCall, Will Young and Professor Green.
