There's a corner of Carrefour in Dubai Festival City Mall that made us feel all warm and fuzzy, thanks to a Dubai-based social enterprise changing the lives of young Emirati entrepreneurs with cognitive disabilities one succulent at a time. With the hashtag #WorkOfHeart displayed proudly over the merch, not only does home and garden initiative Enable offer Instagrammable cacti and succulents, creative arrangements and bouquets, 15 per cent of each sale goes directly to the young Emirati who brought it to life, fostering financial independence.
And not content with bringing greenery to the sunniest spots of our homes, Enable hosts workshops around the emirate, and has also partnered with the Community Development Authority (CDA) within the Dubai Government to co-chair an advocacy committee which aims to advise corporations how to create real employment opportunities for diversely abled Emiratis.
