The pandemic has affected most of us in one way or another. And those months we spent locked up at home left us pondering. We took the time to relax, reset, and reflect, which in turn left many of us reassessing what not only we want our future to look like, but our present too.

Life in Dubai comes with certain frustrations. Rental agreements and up-front cheque payments being one of them. A big one. So, with life – globally – looking different during these new-normal times, it’s understandable that many residents are saying bye to tenancy contracts and hiya to long-stay offers in hotels across the city. We’re sure you spotted an offer or two on Instagram during lockdown, no? Tempting, right?

Zabeel House by Jumeirah, The Greens is one such hotel. The long-stay offers at this neighbourhood location start from just one month, and rates start as low as Dhs150 a night. The chic-meets-contemporary aesthetic is felt throughout its lobby, rooms and social spaces. Not only does it provide a laid-back yet refined setting to call home, but the discounts those staying receive throughout its amenities and services, make living in these uncertain and unprecedented times as comfortable as possible.

We recently stayed at the hotel to see whether the hype has substance… Check in was as smooth as possible, and the ample luggage that naturally comes along with longer stays was taken to our room [you can also book suites or apartments], waiting for us. We quickly took it upon ourselves to make use of the co-working spaces such as Social Company, the relaxed café to the right of the lobby. However, if you prefer a more exclusive environment, a simple call down to reception, and you can book out The Study for a few hours to finish that presentation or project in peace.

Weekends at Zabeel House by Jumeirah, The Greens will see its lounge areas come alive. Social Company’s tables book out for drinks and nibbles accompanied by live acoustic music, while Lah Lah, the bar and restaurant on the fourth floor, has a brunch offer that makes it an effortless way to socialise with friends while removing the travel component. We found ourselves in the Pan Asian-influenced destination most days, whether for a quick late-night bite, or for a leisurely lunch with the girls. And we’d be lying if we said we didn’t order its delectable dishes to our room at times too. The salt and pepper calamari and lobster and scallop dumplings are a must.

With temperatures starting to fall – slowly – we would certainly recommend the pool deck and spending a few hours in the sun on the oversized loungers. We went down early and secured a space, and swam lengths before the midday sun took full effect.

On the same floor, you’ll also find The Native Club gym and spa. The gym itself is large, with all the equipment one could need – free to those staying – while the spa has a tranquil menu of massages and facials, all at a discount of 30 per cent off treatments.

One advantage to Zabeel House by Jumeirah, The Greens is that it is a pre-friendly hotel. The dogs that sat at the feet of their owners down in Social Company during the evenings really added to the homely feel. The friendly and welcoming staff, all in face masks and gloves furthered the vibe, and we can safely say, we’re considering packing up our belongings and booking in. Once our tenancy agreement comes to an end.
