The coronavirus has now infected over 1.5 million people worldwide. The UAE government has announced that it is faced with 2,659 cases of which 239 have made full recoveries in the UAE.
Minister of Health and Prevention, Abdul Rahman bin Mohammad bin Nasser Al Owais declared that the UAE had conducted a record number of tests nationwide in a short period of time. He adds, “These tests have been conducted in advanced screening centres and the figure underscores the government's commitment to fight the novel virus and protect the health, safety and wellbeing of the community. It also reflect the robustness of our health systems and competency of our health professionals.”
He proceeded to conclude, ''The UAE will continue to take measures to contain the spread of the COVID-19. The health sector's top priority has been to conduct as many tests as possible which resulted in early detection of infected cases, tracing contacts and isolating them.’'
While the USA currently holds the highest number of COVID-19 tests worldwide, at a staggering 2,226,116; the ratio of tests to its 1 million population is currently 6,725 whereas the UAE’s ratio of 539,195 tests to it’s 1 million population is 59,967 – one of the highest records in the world to date.
The UAE government continuously urges all residents and citizens to stay home and stay safe in order to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus.
