There's bad news for dogs in Dubai

The Dubai Police has recently removed ‘dog walking’ as an option under the movement permit due to the intensified 24-hour sanitation programme carried out in effort to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The Dubai Police has responded to dog walking queries on social media sharing that
all residents with dogs are advised against walking their pets for leisure and recreational purposes. However, pet owners may still take their dogs out within the proximity of their building for no more than ten minutes in order for them to relieve themselves during this period.

The UAE government has urged for individuals to only leave the house for essential purposes and emergencies. Brig Saif Al Mazroui, Head of Traffic at Dubai Police, highlighted that residents and citizens stepping out to for supplies should purchase enough to last them several days and must carry their permit with them at all times. “People need to understand that going out must be for only an absolute necessity,” he urged. “They should buy what is enough for a number of days.”

To avoid any fines and penalties, you can apply for your permit here before you leave the house for urgent reasons.
