One trolley at a time please, residents of the UAE. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the majority of your neighbourhood supermarkets, hypermarkets and pharmacies have extended their timings to make sure that we never go hungry or face a shortage of medicine, food and other supplies.
"We have full confidence in our stock and supply chain and we continue to monitor stock levels to ensure we adequately cater to customer needs” said a spokesperson from Carrefour supermarket who has now extended its timings until midnight across the UAE. Let’s not all run to Carrefour at once though, Lulu hypermarket, Qusais and Barsha, announced that they have also extended its hours until midnight.
In addition: Union Co-op, Umm Suqeim; Grandiose, Dubai Marina; and Spinneys, Abu Dhabi Corniche have announced that their doors will be open around the clock.
Before you get ahead of yourselves, always remember to only stock up on essentials and shop considerately during this uncertain period as only 30 per cent of the supermarkets regular capacity will be accomodated in store at a time. “All bodies concerned have to abide by the preventive and precautionary measures taken by the State's competent bodies to ensure public safety and people's wellbeing” said the Ministry of Health and Prevention in a statement earlier today.
