From figuring out your weekend brunch destination to weighing up your music festival options, a quick flick through social media is one of the easiest ways to find out more about things you’re interested in.
But Surkus, an app recently launched in the UAE, has devised a way to help you get AAA passes to the hottest gigs, restaurants and gym classes by rewarding users for giving honest, unbiased reviews.
For example, this week up-and-coming Arabic star Amjad Shakir is performing at Alserkal Avenue, and Surkus members can access the intimate gig for free.
What’s the catch? In all honesty, there isn’t one. When you sign up you’re given exclusive access to paid events and offers from brands in return for engagement – basically all the perks influencers have been enjoying for years, without the stress of figuring out how many likes your posts are getting or if you’re losing followers.
Steps include checking-in to places, creating social posts or giving feedback directly to the brands, and if you’re already on social media, chances are you’d be doing at least two of the three steps above anyway.
The power of social media, on your terms, with rewards thrown in for good measure? What’s not to like about that.
