Residents of Abu Dhabi can finally breathe a sigh of relief as the Road and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai and the Department of Transport (DoT) in Abu Dhabi have launched an all new intercity route that takes you from Mussafah to Ibn Battuta, via spots enroute to the Abu Dhabi International Airport.
The route has been launched not only to increase transport between the two emirates but also ease the stress of Abu Dhabi residents who previously would have had to travel to the central station in AD to then travel to Dubai.
The frequency of this bus is currently set on an hourly basis, but may change to 30 minutes, if the demand increases.
Ateeq Mohammed Al Mazrouei, director of operations, public transport sector at the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), said “It was done with the Expo 2020 in mind and as part of the cooperation between the emirates of Abu Dhabi and Dubai”.
There will be new lines from Abu Dhabi City, which will connect the Abu Dhabi International Airport to Ibn Battuta bus station and Expo 2020. One service will start from the Marina Mall, another from Madinat Zayed and the third one from the airport” Al Mazrouei said.
