Move over Kanye, because it looks like another American rapper is considering swapping the mic for a career in politics.
Taking to Twitter, Cardi B shared that would potentially like to be a part of congress one day as she had so many “ideas that make sense”. She added that with a “couple years more of school” she belives she could “shake the table”.
Democratic presidential candidate hopeful Bernie Sanders welcomed the news, and told TMZ, "Cardi B is deeply concerned about what's happening in the country. She knows what it's like to live in poverty and struggle, and it would be great for her to bring that experience to politics."
I do feel like if I go back to school and focus up I can be part of Congress.I deadass have sooo much ideas that make sense.I just need a couple of years of school and I can shake the table .— iamcardib (@iamcardib) January 13, 2020
However, Republicans have wasted no time in dismissing Cardi’s motives - one even rewrote Cardi’s tweet to highlight grammatical errors, and added, “You’re going to need more school than that.”
Another wrote, “Your going to have a hard time trying to run for office with your criminal record and gang affiliation! Not to mention you talk so ignorant and definitely have no decorum! Complete lack of any kind of respect!”
However, Cardi’s fans have leapt to her defense and have wasted no time in voicing their support, and highlighting that there’s nothing wrong with Cardi’s informal writing style. “As a writer & political scientist, I feel for this woman’s inability to applaud Cardi B’s message & get over her own jealousy because Cardi’s right. I have 3 degrees & I thought to myself when I saw the same tweet ‘Cardi u can even shake the table without school!’” one woman Tweeted.
