When Kim Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint during Paris Fashion Week in 2016, several pieces of jewellery were taken, including her 15-carat Lorraine Swartz diamond engagement ring.
And while the mother-of-four could have easily afforded a replacement, she decided to forgo wearing expensive jewellery entirely in the aftermath of the ordeal.
Speaking to Ellen DeGeneres on her show, Kim explained: "It was probably no secret, you see it on the show, me being flashy, but I was definitely materialistic before. Not that there's anything bad about having things and working hard to get those things — and I’m really proud of everyone that's around me that's successful. But I'm so happy that my kids get this me. And that this is who is raising my kids. Because I just don’t care about that stuff anymore, I really don't."
However, it seems Kim has had a change of heart in recent weeks, and has been spotted wearing an identical ring style to various red carpet events, and in her new KKW Fragrance ads.
And in a recent episode of Keeping Up, Kim recounted her engagement story to three-year-old son Saint ahead of her vow renewal ceremony she had with Kanye to celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary, and re-enacted the proposal by showing the toddler how to pop the question with her ring.
And who can blame her? Diamonds are forever after all (and the name of her new product she's created with sisters Kourtney and Khloe).
