DJ Khaled’s favourite food is this classic Middle Eastern dish

Other than shouting his name (rhythmically) on billboard-topping anthems and coining iconic phrases you can now only read in his voice, DJ Khaled is known for tirelessly chronicling his daily exploits on social media – latest of which is the revelation of his favourite food.

The social media sovereign took to Instagram, celebrating his birthday in style, complete with a hefty serving of maqluba.

Maqluba, which translates to “upside down”, is a traditional Syrian, Iraqi, Palestinian, and Jordanian rice-based dish. It consists of meat, rice, and fried vegetables placed in a pot which is flipped upside down when served.

“Special edition Yard man/Arab man Tuesday alert featuring my favourite dish, Maqluba,” reads the caption under the American-Palestinian musician’s Instagram post.

“It’s my birthday today… I’m going to give you some of my favourite Arabic dishes… first off, my favourite Arabic dish is called maqluba — big up all the Middle Easterners out there if you know about maqluba,” he explains in the video.

Fingers crossed he gives us the recipe on his next Snapchat story.
