Nike prides itself in celebrating sportswomen, especially girls who are paving their own way and scoring goals in the traditional male-dominant sport of football. So it only makes sense for the amazing Adowa to be featured in their latest documentary. She is well known for being an outspoken (not to mention inspiring) activist, with the empowering digital platform 'Gurls Talk' under her belt. It is an online community and podcast that discusses important women’s issues and how to overcome them.

“Spit Fire, Dream Higher” shows how football is an ideal way to empower young women. The pitch is their place of passion and football is the foundation for major life changes which ultimately builds strong relationships and communities.

Joined on screen with Paris Saint-German striker Nadia Nadim, the duo takes an international trip to several girls’ hometown to learn about the fight and spirits the fearless the young female footballers possess.

Directed by Felix Cooper the 42 minute film tells us  the stories of six inspiring women from all corners of the world. Battling through oppression is no unfamiliar task; but they continue to stand up, driven by their undying love for football.

In a heartfelt Insta post, Aboah explains how much the documentary meant to her “Words wouldn’t give justice to this one of a kind film. Through Felix’s authentic and intimate lens, he shows us how important it is to be part of a sisterhood and community, what support feels like within a family and team and what passion looks like when you’re head over heels in love with Football.”

Yesterday was the premier of a much anticipated 9 month project that my best friend @felix_cooper and I embarked on. ‘Spit Fire Dream Higher’ is a story of determination, following 6 girls from all corners of the world. Through Felix’s authentic and intimate lense, he shows us how important it is to be part of a sisterhood and community, what support feels like within a family and team and what passion looks like when you’re head over heels in love with Football. Words wouldn’t give justice to this one of a kind film, I’m speechless in describing the pride I feel for Felix and what he has created. Thank you to the 200 people who came and supported yesterday, to @nike for the continuous support, to Isla, spike and @somesuchandco for all their hard work, to @nadi9nadim for her beautiful narration. And most importantly to Londiwe, Rose, Odette, Zerina, Kristina, Ikranur and Precious for trusting in us, telling their beautiful stories, and evoking so much inspiration in all of us. PLEASE WATCH, PLEASE SHARE- (Link In Bio) I LOVE YOU FELIX.
