This summer just got a little bit hotter, and the weather’s not the only thing that’s heating up. Grazia has a feeling it might be something to do with Idris Elba’s announcement that his next film will be in Saudi Arabia. This is obviously our internal film fanatic speaking, not our personal feelings for Idris.
Having filmed Star Trek Beyond in Dubai, DJ’d at the DXBeach festival and last week at Gotha, it seems Idris is here to stay. The announcement was made during his speech at Saudi Arabia’s Quality of Life programme of entertainment and cultural initiatives. “Saudi Arabia gave me an opportunity to make my film here. It made sense on an economical model,” he explained. “I would definitely be here – why not?”
“Saudi Arabia has an awesome opportunity to spread its culture through film-making," the British talent said at the event, emphasising the importance of showcasing culture to the world's collaboraters through entertainment and the "transparancy of story telling".
Being that a major part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 is to improve the entertainment selection within the country, it's comes as no surprise they've chosen none other than this particular multitalented, award-winning producer/performer.
The filming has not yet begun, but it's safe to say we're already fans of whatever it will be.
